Why do I need a return address?

Every letter needs a genuine return address — yours. It's printed on the letter, and it's how the recipient (or the postal service) can reach you back.

Your return address must be your own real, current address. You send letters as yourself, on your own behalf — sending under a false name or address is a serious violation of our Terms.

The good news: you only enter it once. Every new return address you enter is saved automatically, and you can keep up to three — useful if you write from both a home and a business address. We verify an address can receive mail when you save it.

Your saved return addresses live in your address book, where you can edit or remove them. While you're writing a letter, Change return address lets you edit the one you're using or pick another you've saved.
