Why was my letter blocked, and what can I do about it?

Every letter is automatically checked before it can be sent. This screening helps keep the service safe — it blocks content our Terms don't allow, such as content that is threatening, harassing, abusive, fraudulent, deceptive, hateful, or obscene, plus a few practical categories:

  • Inappropriate language that can't be mailed.

  • Text art (ASCII drawings) — letters must be plain text.

  • Legal advice or legal citations — PostalGenie is a correspondence tool, not a law firm, so we can't mail letters that give legal advice. Rewrite it in your own words: describe your situation and what you want, without quoting laws, statutes, or legal conclusions.

  • Letters that score too high on our overall safety review as written.

If your letter is blocked, the reason appears right under the draft. In most cases the fix is simple: edit the flagged part and continue — the letter is re-checked automatically.

You may also see cautions that don't block sending — for example, a reminder that untrue factual claims about a person or company could be libel, or that sensitive personal numbers are visible to anyone who handles the envelope. These are worth reading: you're responsible for what you send.

Think a block is a mistake? Email support@postalgenie.app with your letter's details and we'll take a look.
